MATTHEW FERNIE

Born and raised in a small town outside of Calgary, Alberta (Canada) I came to San Diego after finishing High school looking for a new experience. While here I decided to check out a local Community College, get my degree and find a career I could truly enjoy. Growing up I loved to draw and use computers so Graphic Design seemed like a perfect fit and within a few months I enrolled at San Diego City College and began a new chapter in my life. Two years later I would complete my Associates degree in Graphic Design and transfer to San Diego State University to get my Bachelors of Art Degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design. Since then my goal has been to become a complete designer covering print, web design as well as doing illustration and photography

Outside of Graphic Design I enjoy taking pictures of birds, aside from being the official family photographer, watching old kungfu movies and tinkering with my computer and/or car. But my main focus outside of work has shifted to my family, especially with the birth of my daughter on 11/21/12. She is my inspiration and has given me a new perspective on what I want to accomplish in life for me and my family.

Lately I have been trying various new hobbies, from making beef jerky to creating my own drinking glasses from used beer bottles but have finally settled on brewing my own beer!
